May Wrap Up...

The month of May is quickly coming to a close, so I thought I would take a few moments and show what have accomplished this month...

Up first, I started and completed a really cute pattern, featuring the dresses of three different Disney princesses...
(Pattern designed by Avrora CS on Etsy)
Now, I just need to find the right frame for this piece...

Next, I pulled out my Big Bang Theory piece...

And, I finished the whole piece...
(Pattern designed by Good Morning Maui on Etsy)

I pulled out my Harry Potter piece, too and finished up 3 more characters...

(Pattern designed by Tiny Needle)
Only 4 characters left to stitch.

I also did a bit of ice dying this month and really love how the fabric turned out...
(My inspiration was cotton candy and I think I achieved the look quite well.)

This past weekend, I had an idea pop into my head and I just had to try my hand at stitching it...
I think I may add a little bit more to it, but I really do love how it came out...

I made a new start last night...

Lastly, I am getting all my supplies ready for my first "hosted" stitch along...
I am really excited to start working on the bird patterns that I have picked out.

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a fantastic and productive week!

May's Smalls Update

A couple days late, with my May check-in for the Smalls SAL...
...but I am glad that I managed to finish two small pieces for this update.

(Stitch along run by Heather at Stitching Lotus)

Up first, I finished my geisha girl...
I loved working on this piece and ended up getting a lot more of iamnotadoll's patterns. (I can't wait to have a collection of cute, little geisha girls on my craft room wall.)

My second finish...
I cannot resist a good "cat pun"!
(Pattern designed by ringcat on Etsy)

So, there are my two smalls for the month of May...
...now it is back to getting ready for my upcoming bird stitch-along.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

June Stitch-Along...

(I decided to start my own stitch-along on Instagram and thought I would share the details here, in cases anyone wanted to join along.  Feel free to post your updates on your blog, instead of Instagram.)

I love birds, my husband loves birds and over the years I've purchased a lot of bird cross stitch patterns...
But, I am in need of a little "push" to start working on some of these projects. The month of June seems like the perfect time to start putting in some stitches into my mountain of bird patterns.
So, I am going to embark on a SAL to work on a bird cross stitch piece each day. (More than likely a new start each day, but not necessarily.). If anyone would like to join me, please feel free...

The "rules" are very lax (I can never stick to strict rules)...
1) Work on a bird themed piece each day of June. (You can start a new piece each day, work on one bird piece for the month, pull out any bird themed WIPs, etc.)
-You do not need to spend all day on your bird cross stitch; you can simply put in 5 minutes (or 5 stitches) into your bird piece and call it good.
2) Post progress photos on Instagram. (Post as many or few times as you want, just post at least twice.)
3) Use the hashtags #birdstitchalong and #birdsal when posting your photos.
4) Have fun! 😁

May Stitching Update...

As promised, a STITCHING UPDATE....
I did take a little time away from stitching, due to the new puppy, but I found I really missed it and my stress level shot threw the roof! (Stitching really helps me de-stress.)

So, up first, a finish...
My April fairy is all done!
(I did start the May fairy, just haven't gotten a picture of her yet.)

I also started my April magazine project...
"Sweet Heart"... by Emma Congdon
Issue 301 of Cross Stitcher magazine

I am enjoying stitching this piece, but I found my fabric (which I dyed using tea) was starting to turn a different color.  It must be due to the oils in my hands, so I have to wear gloves when I work on this piece.

And, that is where I stopped stitching for a bit...

Mario's Easter Basket...
This piece got me back to stitching...
I loved the bright colors and it was a lot of fun to work on.
(I actually finished it in five days.)
The piece was designed by CapesAndCraft on Etsy.

From there, I moved on to a mermaid, designed by Durene Jones...

Very glad to have the tail finished, as it was a lot of work...
...definitely looking forward to putting in some more stitches.

I pulled out my Dragon Age: Inquisition characters and finished up one more...
(Three down, I believe 10 to go...)

And lastly, I started working on a cute, little geisha girl...

I am hoping to have her finished this weekend.
I absolutely love her and her bright colors! (Something about bright colors lately, I can't seem to resist.)
Piece designed by iamnotadoll on Etsy.

Well, that is what I've been up...
...lots of fun projects and I am hoping to pull out some more WIPs (maybe even finish a few).

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

The reason I have been MIA...

Good afternoon everyone!
I know that I have been MIA for the last month, but I do have a very good reason...
...on April 8th, we brought home our new Newfoundland puppy, Lucie!

(Picture from the car ride home...
She decided she preferred my husband's lap, until she discovered the car had a backseat.)

It has been quite the month with a new puppy...
(I haven't had a new "baby" in the house in over 12 years, so there has been a lot of adjusting.)

Things were pretty crazy for a bit, but slowly, everything (and everyone) is adjusting and life has gotten back to "normal" (at least as normal as life ever gets).

Lucie is doing very well...
...she is pretty close to being completely potty trained. (She's only had a few accidents and most of those are on my husband and I, because we weren't paying attention.)  We are still working on getting her to "communicate" more when she has to go potty, but things are progressing.

She walks on a leash and currently has 2 puppy obedience classes under her belt.
(It is a lot of fun working on the commands with her and seeing her start to understand.)

She just turned 16 weeks and she weighs roughly 40 pounds.
(Yep, she is going to be a very big girl!)

Otherwise, I have gotten back to stitching (I will have a stitching update soon) and am starting to really enjoy my time with Lucie.
(It was a bit rough in the beginning, but things are getting much better.)

Well, this is just a short little update, to let everyone know that I am still around (and reading through blogs) and what I have been up to...
I promise to have a stitching post uploaded soon!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
